The
content of each
USA Web
Advertising
directory is all about the best of the numerous things to see, do, and
buy in the featured city or state, and much of that is conveyed by our
many stories, articles, and pictures. Obviously, there are more sights
and attractions in any city or state than our staff alone could ever
cover. With your help, we believe our directories can be the most
complete "Online Guides" to our cities and states on the
Internet. Here is what we are looking for:
-
AMATEUR and PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS with images of
interesting places and events. Send us copies of any of your photos
of you think we could use. Please include a written description or
caption for each image. We will review them, select the ones we
feel are most suitable, and place them on appropriate locations in
the appropriate directory. We may make minor modifications such as
changing color balance or brightness where needed.
-
AMATEUR and PROFESSIONAL WRITERS with inside information or
personal opinions about people, places, and events. Send us your
writings on any subject you think we could use that is related to
one of our featured cities or states. We will review them and place
them in the most appropriate directory if they are suitable. We may
make minor changes such as editing punctuation or grammar where
needed.
WHAT
DO YOU GET OUT OF IT?
-
You will
always receive a credit line with the article or photo itself, with
a link to an individual background page on our site. This page will
give as much information about yourself, such as your profession,
experience, interests and hobbies, as you would like to present. It
can also include a photo of you if you have one you want to use. You
should include this data with your first submission to us. Your
background page may also contain links to your business or personal
websites, if you desire.
Take a look at this background page for
Steve Aloi as an example.
And if your business is in one of the categories in our directories,
you will receive an Enhanced Listing and links to your business
website from there. As the popularity and circulation of each
USA Web

website grows, we believe that showcasing your work in them will
prove to be an excellent advertising and promotion resource for you.
If you would like to have a link on your site to ours, see our

page.
How
to submit items for publication to us:
-
Photographs may be pre-scanned and submitted by Email as attached
files, with caption text contained in the message. Set your scanner
output to 24-Bit True Color, 96+ lines per inch. Original size
is fine, 1600 x 1200 pixels or under is best. We prefer .JPG files
with minimal compression, or .TIF files, since we have
software for final compression that produces high-quality images
with almost no distortion found in .JPGs.
You may also send
copies of your pictures by U.S. Mail and let us scan them. We
can use 35mm transparencies or color prints up to 8x10's. Please
include a self-addressed envelope so we can return them. Of course,
we'll take every precaution to protect your images from damage,
but we can not be responsible should anything happen to them in the
mails.
-
Written Articles may be sent by E-Mail, either in the message
itself, or as an attached "text only" file, or by U.S. Mail
in hard copy form. Please include a self-addressed return envelope
if you want them back.

TOPICS OF
INTEREST |
|
Each of our directories is
a guide to the fun and interesting places to go, exciting things to
do, and unique items to buy in the city or state featured in that
directory. Examples of what we cover are:
•
National and state parks
•
Historic sites and monuments
•
Bird and wildlife sanctuaries
•
Scenic areas, like mountains,
canyons, beaches, lakes and
reservoirs, rivers, waterfalls,
forests, and deserts
•
Hot springs and geysers
•
Caves, petroglyphs, and ruins
•
Ghost towns and cemeteries
•
Hiking and backpacking trails
•
Fishing and hunting areas
•
Four-wheeling roads and trails
•
Indian reservations
•
Tourist attractions
•
Museums and exhibits
•
Zoos and botanical gardens
All attractions we show must be accessible to everyone and most are
publicly owned or managed.
Privately-owned attractions, like the Meteor Crater, a landmark in
Arizona, may be included if they fit one of the listed categories.
PHOTOGRAPHS
should show identifiable scenes, locations, or recurring events
within a specific city or state. People may be in the picture to
illustrate a typical activity, but they should appear candid and not
posed. Vacation "snapshots" are fine as long as they're good quality
pictures and show the location attractively. Your spouse or kids
should not be the main subject in each one. Horizontal, or
"landscape mode" photos are the most likely to be useful and
accepted. Creative use of color, shape, and design is welcome and
encouraged, but photos shoud be illustrative of the subject, not
just abstract art.
WRITTEN ARTICLES should be about a
particular attraction or a recurring event. A description of the kind
of fishing, recreational facilities, and normal weather at a local
lake or reservoir, or the history and details of an annual rodeo and
parade are examples of what we want to feature. The tone should be
informational and instructional, and in second or third person. "You
will want to bring warm clothing if you arrive after September," or
"Residents recommend warm clothing after September," for example.
First person descriptions of trips will be considered, if well-written
and applicable to a particular location we want to describe. Relevant
information about the place or event is more important than the
creativity of the writing for our purposes. Your opinions, and
clear, colorful descriptions are certainly welcome, however.
